Welcome to Family Values (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Family Values website, mobile application, tools, and services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. Eligibility and Acceptance
By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms or the Privacy Policy, you must not use the Service.
2. Service Overview
Family Values provides a digital recipe management platform, including:
- Recipe storage (with optional image uploads)
- AI-powered recipe import tools (e.g., from photos, text, voice, and PDFs)
- Meal planning functionality
- Grocery/shopping list generation
AI tools are provided as a convenience to assist users in creating and formatting recipes. We make no guarantees as to their accuracy or completeness. Users are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and confirming all recipe content before saving or relying on it.
3. User Accounts and Consent
To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. By creating an account, you expressly agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy, and you consent to the collection and processing of your data as described therein.
You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.
You may not create an account on behalf of another person without their explicit consent, nor may you use another person’s account without permission.
4. User-Generated Content (UGC)
Users may choose to store recipes privately or share them publicly. You retain ownership of content you upload. By making recipes public, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, distribute, and share that content within the platform and in promotional materials.
You are responsible for ensuring that your content does not infringe on the rights of any third party or violate any applicable laws. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms.
Prohibited Content
The following types of content are not allowed on Family Values:
- Hate speech, harassment, threats, or bullying
- Sexually explicit or violent content
- Spam, scams, or misleading content
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights
- Personal information of others without consent
- Content promoting illegal activities
Enforcement
- Content that violates these guidelines may be removed without notice.
- Accounts may be suspended or terminated for violations.
- Repeat violators will be permanently banned.
5. Community Guidelines & Safety
We are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful community. Users can block other users to prevent interaction and hide their content.
Users can report content or users that violate these guidelines using the in-app reporting feature.
Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. We aim to review reports within 48 hours.
False or abusive reporting may result in action against the reporting account.
6. AI Features — Limitations and Disclaimers
Our AI tools are intended to be fun, fast helpers—not professional nutritionists or chefs. All AI-generated output is presented for your review prior to saving. You are responsible for validating all content before using it.
We specifically disclaim any liability for inaccuracies in AI-generated recipes, nutritional content, or suggested ingredients. Users should not rely solely on AI results for dietary needs, allergies, or health-related decisions.
When you use our AI features, your input data (text, images, or audio) is transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing. This data is used solely to generate your requested output and is not used to train AI models. See our Privacy Policy for details on which providers receive your data and how it is handled.
We may introduce fair-use limits on AI features (e.g., image imports, recipe generation, or voice transcription) in the future to maintain service quality.
7. Health and Cooking Risks
Cooking and food preparation involve inherent risks. We are not liable for injuries, illness, or damages resulting from:
- Improper food handling or preparation
- Ingredient substitutions
- Allergy or intolerance exposure
- Inaccurate measurements, directions, or nutritional information
Always consult medical professionals regarding dietary restrictions, allergies, or health conditions.
8. Subscription and Billing
The Service is free for up to 5 saved recipes.
Unlimited usage is available via paid subscription at $1.99/month or $19.99/year (prices subject to change).
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually) at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
Web subscriptions: Payments are processed securely by Stripe. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will retain access until then.
Mobile subscriptions (in-app purchases): If you subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, billing and cancellation are governed by the respective store’s terms. You must cancel through the store’s subscription management interface.
Refund policy: Web purchases are generally final. However, if you are dissatisfied, you may contact us for a case-by-case refund consideration. In-app purchase refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their respective policies.
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA): You have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of purchase. However, by using the Service immediately after purchase, you acknowledge and agree that you thereby waive your right of withdrawal once the digital content has been fully provided.
We reserve the right to update our pricing and subscription model. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice of any price increases, and existing subscribers will be given the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Fair Use & Usage Limits
Family Values includes AI-powered features such as recipe import, a cooking assistant (Chef Val), and AI grocery list simplification. These features are subject to usage limits to ensure service quality and sustainability for all users.
Free Accounts
- Free accounts have daily limits on AI-powered features. These limits reset each day at midnight UTC.
- Free accounts are limited to 15 saved recipes. Subscribing removes the recipe storage limit.
- Subscribing removes daily limits and provides generous monthly allowances for all AI features.
Subscribed Accounts (Fair Use)
Subscribed users enjoy significantly higher usage limits designed to accommodate normal cooking and recipe management activities. Current fair use limits for subscribed users are:
- 300 AI recipe imports per month
- 1,000 Chef Val messages per month
- 50 AI grocery list simplifications per month
If you find that the fair use limits don’t meet your needs, please contact us at help@familyvalu.es to request a fair use extension. We’re happy to work with you.
Family Values reserves the right to adjust usage limits with reasonable notice. We will always aim to ensure that limits are generous enough for normal use.
Automated, scripted, or bot-driven usage of AI features is not permitted. Accounts found to be abusing AI features may have their access restricted.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy, available at https://familyvalu.es/privacy, explains how we collect, use, store, and share your information. By using the Service, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
We use third-party services to operate the platform, including:
- Supabase (data storage and authentication)
- Vercel (site hosting)
- Stripe (subscription billing and payment processing)
- OpenAI (AI-powered recipe import and text processing)
- AssemblyAI (voice-to-text transcription)
- Google Analytics (anonymous usage analytics)
- Brevo (email communications)
- RevenueCat (in-app purchase and subscription management)
10. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under your account. If you suspect unauthorized activity, notify us immediately. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from unauthorized access to your account.
11. Termination and Account Deletion
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for any reason, including violation of these Terms, with or without notice.
You may delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal data and recipe content in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Certain data may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records for tax compliance).
If you hold an active subscription at the time of account deletion, cancellation of your subscription is your responsibility. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel subscriptions processed by Apple, Google, or Stripe.
Suspension is a step before termination. Suspended accounts cannot sign in and their content is hidden from other users. Users can appeal suspensions by contacting us at help@familyvalu.es.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Family Values and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury, resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.
In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Family Values, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) your violation of these Terms; (c) your violation of any rights of a third party; or (d) any content you submit to the Service.
14. Modifications to Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via the platform, email, or a prominent notice on our website at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of these courts.
For users in the European Union: Nothing in this section limits your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
